Spider-Man Is Finally Coming to Marvel’s Avengers in Patch 2.2

November 5, 2021

Fans have patiently waited for Spider-Man to join Marvel’s Avengers after he was announced as a PlayStation-exclusive addition over a year ago. Now, Spider-Man will finally swing into Marvel’s Avengers for PS4 and PS5 on Nov. 30 in the Patch 2.2 update. Publisher Square Enix and developer Crystal Dynamics announced the news on the official Marvel’s Avengers blog.

With Spider-Man’s arrival comes the With Great Power Hero Event that lets you experience the web-slinger’s story “through unlockable challenges woven throughout the Avengers Initiative.” Here is the official summary of the event from Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics:

“Peter Parker uncovers AIM’s new plan to acquire technology that could make their Synthoid army unstoppable and total domination inevitable. He must partner with the Avengers to stop this looming threat, and forms a tentative friendship with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow while keeping his identity hidden. As a Hero accustomed to working solo, he struggles with the new dynamics of working with a team. Will he join up full time with the Avengers, or stay independent in his fight against AIM?”

The Patch 2.2 update is also bringing us Marvel’s Avengers’ first major raid, Discordant Sound, which will allow four players to fight Black Panther villain Klaw.

There will be additional tweaks in the patch as well. You can expect max power levels to jump from 150 to 175, and you will now have the option of upgrading gear. Speaking of gear, there will be plenty of awesome gear in the new Klaw Raid, and there will be new weekly objectives you can complete for each hero. Patch 2.2 will also introduce a new Shipments feature that helps you earn unique cosmetics.

The Patch 2.2 news comes days after Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics removed paid XP boosts from Marvel’s Avengers, citing negative feedback over the perception that it made the game pay-to-win.
