Every Video Game Release Date for October 2021

As October kicks off, there are some big releases on the way for fans of every genre. With the holiday season approaching, the schedule is about to get incredibly busy, with AAA launches, a series of remakes, and some very interesting indie games.

Whether it is the likes of FIFA 22 and Mario Party Superstars or remasters of games such as Crysis and Alan Wake, there is something for everyone this month. 

Here is every game coming out in October 2021 across every platform.

FIFA 22 

Release Date: October 1

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

EA’s annual soccer game is finally set to release in October and it is one of the first titles of the month. Featuring new Hypermotion technology to improve the realism, EA has also included new features in Career Mode, Ultimate Team, and VOLTA Football to make this the most comprehensive FIFA game ever.

Alan Wake Remastered

The award-winning psychological horror game Alan Wake has been remastered for PC and next-gen consoles. Featuring higher frame rates and 4K visuals, Alan Wake Remastered follows the writer as he searches for his missing wife. Along with the main game, it also comes with the original two expansions to make this a complete package.

BPM: Bullets Per Minute

Release Date: October 5

Platforms: PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

BPM: Bullets Per Minute is a first-person shooter that has taken inspiration from bullet hell games. With rhythm-based action and rogue-like gameplay, players have to delve into a randomly generated dungeon to defeat an ancient enemy. The key to success is hitting every note and not missing a single beat.

Hell Let Loose 

Release Date: October 5

Platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Hello Let Loose, an RTS-inspired game that puts 100 players in a giant battle. Set in World War II, it has been available on PC since earlier this summer but is now coming to next-gen consoles. As a cog in a larger war effort, it is up to players to help keep the action going by strategically deploying resources.

Jett: The Far Shore

Jett: The Far Shore is a PC and PlayStation exclusive game that takes players on an interstellar expedition across space. Taking on the role of a scout, it is up to Mei to explore an ocean planet on a jett vehicle. Featuring a five-act story, there is plenty to discover on the waves.

Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan

For those who prefer wholesome experiences, Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan might be a perfect choice. This colorful adventure platformer comes with numerous puzzles and a collection of RPG elements. With no violence in the game, it features a story about accepting oneself and coming to terms with becoming an adult.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania

Set to launch on October 5, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is the latest game in Sega’s long-running franchise. With a cast of returning characters and the evil mad scientist Dr. Bad-Doon, this title features all of the best stages and minigames from the previous releases.

Age of Darkness: Final Stand

Age of Darkness: Final Stand is a dark fantasy RTS where the ultimate aim is simply to survive. The last bastion of humanity is under attack from the Nightmare hordes and you must defend them by illuminating the darkness. 

Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 is the latest entry in Ubisoft’s first-person shooter series. This time around, players will battle against a dictator played by Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito on a fictional Caribbean island. 

The Lightbringer

According to developer Rock Square Thunder, The Lightbringer is a poetic adventure puzzle game that also includes platforming and light combat. With a vile corruption staining the beautiful world, the player must cleanse the world with the help of their sister’s spirit.

Moonglow Bay 

Release Date: October 7

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

In Moonglow Bay, players take on the part of a rookie fishermen who must improve their skills and become the best angler in the land. With the ability to work together and learn from a series of NPCs, it has a similar feel to the likes of Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing.

Knockout Home Fitness

Knockout Home Fitness is the latest fitness game coming to the Nintendo Switch, following the success of the genre on the console. Using the Joy-Cons, users can take part in short but intense workouts to help lose weight and improve fitness.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes

Already available on practically every other platform, Lego Marvel Super Heroes is now coming to Nintendo Switch. The action-adventure game features a cast of Marvel characters in a story spanning multiple locations.

Metroid Dread

Metroid Dread is the long-awaited 2D Metroid game. Using ideas that were originally pitched for the Nintendo DC, MercurySteam has created a game where Samus explores a planet to conclude the original story arc from the series.

Book of Travels

In Book Of Travels, players go on a calm journey as they immerse themselves in the mystery and beauty of Braided Shore. With the ability to travel alone or with companions you meet along the way, it is up to each person to define their own adventure.

Back 4 Blood 

Release Date: October 12

Created by the same people behind the Left 4 Dead series, Back 4 Blood features the same co-op based gameplay. Featuring a narrative campaign, players team up to fight off hordes of infected horrors. 

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut

Platforms: Nintendo Switch

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is the definitive edition of the RPG. Available for the first time on the Nintendo Switch, this version of the game includes all released content, additional quests, and new features. 

Despot’s Game

Despot’s Game is a unique roguelike game where players have to battle against enemy forces in tactical encounters. The main aim of the title is to build teams that can blast through opponents as quickly as possible.

Ruin Raiders

The Crysis Remastered Trilogy is a three-in-one bundle containing all three of the original Crysis titles. Available on every platform, it has been specially enhanced for next-gen consoles and can run at 60 frames per second at 4K resolution.

Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles

Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles follows Tanjiro as he slaughters demons as a deadly slayer. The game features numerous characters from the anime series and also includes a versus mode, allowing players to battle against each other.

The Good Life

In The Good Life, players have to solve a murder mystery in the sleepy Rainy Woods, known as the happiest town in the whole world. Described as a debt repayment RPG, it sees the main character attempt to solve the mystery to solve her financial problems.

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town

Set in a charming village known as Mineral Town, Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town focuses on a character who is attempting to return their grandfather’s farm to its former glory. It is up to players to tend to everything from crops to livestock as they meet the townspeople and build relationships.

Dying Light: Platinum Edition

The open-world zombie survival game Dying Light: Platinum Edition is coming to the Nintendo Switch in this comprehensive collection. Featuring all previously released DLC, it has been developed especially to take advantage of the console’s Joy-Cons. 

Into The Pit

Into The Pit is a lightning-fast first-person shooter roguelite with a classic look and feel. As a member of a lore-hunting family, you are sent to a cursed village and must battle the dark magic that has overwhelmed the location.

War Mongrels

This isometric real-time tactics game is set in World War Two and features a story-driven narrative campaign. War Mongrels is based on real-life stories and also supports co-op gameplay.

Youtubers Life 2

For those who have wanted to know what it would be like to become a professional online personality, Youtubers Life 2 provides that very experience. Players must build up their brand, collaborate with other celebrities, and learn how to create viral content. 

Jars 

Release Date: October 20

Platforms: Nintendo Switch and PC

Jars is a strategy puzzle game that also incorporates tower defense mechanics. Taking control of Victor, players journey into his family’s basement to uncover a dark secret as they battle monsters and avoid being grounded by his mother.

Tandem: A Tale of Shadows

Tandem: A Tale of Shadows is a puzzle game with heavy platforming elements, creating a unique gameplay experience. With a charming and stylized aesthetic, Emma and her bear Fenton set out to solve the mystery of Thomas Kane’s disappearance. 

The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes 

Release Date: October 22

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes is the third part of a planned eight-part horror series. Like its predecessors, it is a survival horror game but differs with its setting in an underground and abandoned Mesopotamian temple that is being explored by a group of soldiers during the Iraq War.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Release Date: October 26

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

The second Marvel game from Square Enix, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is an action-adventure game where players are put into the shoes of Star-Lord. The rest of the squad is AI-controlled but can be issued commands, as the characters deal with the after-effects of a massive interstellar war.

Age of Empires 4

The long-awaited Age of Empires 4 is a real-time strategy game developed by Relic Entertainment. Set during the middle ages, it features the same mechanics beloved by fans of the series and will include eight distinct civilizations for players to use in campaigns. 

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water 

Release Date: October 28

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water is the latest entry in the Fatal Frame series, which originally launched for the Wii U in 2015. It is now coming to modern platforms in a remastered edition that includes performance and visual improvements. 

Riders Republic

Release Date: October 28

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

Ubisoft’s Riders Republic is a sports game that includes five main extreme activities. This includes mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, wingsuit flying, and rocket wingsuiting. The main draw is the massively online races, which support up to 50 players competing against each other.

Mario Party Superstars

Release Date: October 29

Platforms: Nintendo Switch

Mario Party Superstars is a compilation remake of five classic levels from the Nintendo 64-era of Mario party games. There are over 100 minigames and new gameplay mechanics included with the classic boards, bringing more Mario Party mayhem to the Nintendo Switch.
